ABOUT THE GROUP

Plant science across
field, lab and data.

We look for useful biology in unexpected plants.

Plant Bioengineering is a research group in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. We investigate how local wild plants can become future crops and what their specialized chemistry reveals about plant function.

Our work connects natural diversity with mechanism. We combine molecular biology, biochemistry, metabolomics, genomics, plant transformation and field experiments to move from observation to functional validation.

We work across domestication, specialized metabolism and bioengineering, with Chenopodium album as a central research system.
